William – A Small Voice That Made a Big Difference
From Curious Observer to Young Advocate
William began attending Shichida classes at just nine months old. Growing up near a train station, he developed a deep fascination with trains and would often watch them from his home.
🎥 Watch the inspiring true story of William – a five-year-old advocate who wrote to the Government – and was heard.
When William was five years old, he noticed something concerning. The boom gate at a nearby level crossing had a large gap. Because of this gap, many cars were able to pass through even when the gate was down, creating a dangerous situation and leading to several accidents.
Rather than ignoring the problem, William decided to take action.
With support from his parents, he wrote a letter to the Government explaining the issue and suggesting a solution. He recommended installing boom gates on both sides of the railway track to prevent cars from driving through.
His letter quickly caught attention.
William was invited to Parliament House to share his concerns. After hearing his thoughtful suggestion, the Government decided to improve the crossing by installing additional boom gates, helping make the area safer for everyone.
What Happens in the Video
In 2015, five year old William showed that even the smallest voices can make a meaningful difference.
A thoughtful boy with a passion for trains, William spent hours watching the tracks from his bedroom window. After noticing several near misses at a local level crossing, he became deeply concerned about public safety.
With encouragement from his parents, William wrote a heartfelt letter to the Government suggesting improvements to the railway crossing.
His message reached a local Member of Parliament, and soon after, the Victorian Premier invited him to Parliament to speak about train safety.
William’s story touched many people. His empathy, courage and determination helped turn a child’s concern into real change.
As a special moment, William was also invited to ride in the front seat of a train, fulfilling one of his biggest dreams.
