Field of Vision

At Shichida early learning centres, “eye muscle training” is an important component of our early learning program.

Field of Vision

We include various activities to do eye muscle training, based on your child’s age group.

Baby Eye Development

We understand the importance of baby eye development as a foundation for learning. For younger learners in our baby and toddler programs, we incorporate sound to help grab the children’s attention. As the children get older, we focus on using puppets and various toys until they can use our special eye muscle training worksheets independently to develop their field of vision.

Develop Eye Muscles & Peripheral Vision

Doing eye muscle training regularly with young children helps to develop the muscles in their eyes. These muscles play a vital role in developing their concentration skills, ability to memorise and general vision. By improving a child’s eye movement alongside improving their peripheral vision, eye muscle training will eventually broaden the field of view in which they can absorb information.

Since our educational program trains the working memory in our students, eye muscle training naturally helps develop their vision to help them with our memory training activities. We have experienced Shichida students having an increase in their working memory performance as well as their concentration as a result.

Benefits of Shichida Field of Vision Eye Muscle Training

Eye muscle training provides several benefits for children’s visual development and overall well-being. By engaging in specific exercises and activities, children can improve their eye coordination, focus, and tracking abilities.

Visual Perception

One key benefit is enhanced visual perception. Eye muscle training helps children develop better depth perception, spatial awareness, and the ability to accurately judge distances. This can positively impact their performance in various activities, such as sports, handwriting, and reading.

Academic Success

Eye muscle training supports academic success! Children with improved eye coordination and tracking skills can more effectively follow lines of text, reduce the risk of skipping words or lines, and maintain concentration while reading or studying. This can lead to improved reading comprehension, faster reading speed, and better overall academic performance. Eye muscle training also contributes to better eye-hand coordination and motor skills. Children who undergo such training are likely to have improved hand-eye coordination, which can aid in activities like writing, drawing, and playing sports.

Overall, eye muscle training provides children with essential visual skills that can positively impact their daily activities, academic performance, and overall visual development.

FAQs: Field of Vision and Baby Eye Development

A baby’s field of vision refers to how much they can see around them at different stages of growth. In the first months, this field is quite narrow, but it expands rapidly with experience and stimulation. Supporting baby eye development during this time helps strengthen visual tracking, focus, depth perception and overall brain development.

Shichida classes use gentle, age-appropriate visual activities such as high-contrast cards, slow tracking movements, and colourful flashcards to encourage the eyes to follow, focus and widen their visual range. These exercises help expand the field of vision and stimulate important neural connections linked to baby eye development.

A child’s field of vision refers to the entire area they can see without moving their eyes or head. It includes central vision (what they see directly in front of them) and peripheral vision (what they notice around the edges). A well-developed field of vision helps children take in information quickly, move safely, and respond to what’s happening around them.

A strong field of vision supports many everyday skills – reading, writing, tracking moving objects, navigating playgrounds, and concentrating in class. Children with a wider or more responsive visual field often find it easier to follow instructions, stay aware of their surroundings and engage confidently in learning and play.

Shichida classes include targeted visual activities such as fast-flashed flashcards, tracking exercises, mazes, and picture observation tasks. These activities train the eyes and brain to process information quickly, notice details, and expand peripheral awareness. Over time, children become more attentive, coordinated and confident in visually rich environments.
